The Temporary Work Short Stay Specialist visa (subclass 400) is a temporary visa that lets you enter Australia to do short-term, highly specialised work.  

It is suitable for people who have a specific skill set, knowledge and experience not readily available in Australia. 

You must be outside of Australia at the time of application. 

Main Specifications 

  • The applicant must have specialist skills or experience to undertake the work.
  • The applicant must be supported by an organisation to be engaged in short-term, highly specialised, non-ongoing work, usually related to specific projects. 
  • This visa may be used to participate in an activity or work relating to Australia’s interests. 
  • Visa duration usually 3 to 6 months and can be renewed in exceptional cases.
