DO YOU NEED TO GO OVERSEAS WHILST APPLYING FOR A VISA IN AUSTRALIA?

If you need to go overseas whilst applying for a visa in Australia, recent changes in Immigration regulations means that applicants whose bridging visa A (BVA) has ceased on leaving Australia are required to apply for a new BVA when they return.

It has been Department practice, in some cases, to reactivate BVAs using a section of the Migration Act (s68(4)) on return to Australia. However, reactivation under s68(4) is only permitted where the applicant’s BVA has ceased under s82(3) for reasons not related to leaving Australia.

Clients holding BVAs are reminded to gain a Bridging Visa B (BVB) if wishing to travel overseas for which a visa application fee applies. We can make this process much easier for you; please contact us if you have further queries.
